2010 PALISADES WBL

2007

08/26/07-  First game ever played on the now retired Oak Tree Field.

2008

04/20/08-  First official PALISADES WBL game.  Bevelacqua, first win, Colluzzi first HR (a grand slam) & Schneider first unassisted DP in League history.

05/04/08-  Bobby Destefano first shutout in League history.

06/01/08-  Bobby Destefano robs Jay Paraskevas of three HRs in one game.  Jay wins the game with a 6th inning HR.  First game at Fred's.

06/22/08-  Jay Paraskevas hits the League's first walk off HR.

08/24/08-  Two days shy of our 1st year anniversary Ralph Filosa pitches a 9 inning 1 hit shutout.  He was presented with the League's first gold ball in honor of his achievement.

08/10/08-  Pete Montanez throws a shutout in his first game.

09/30/08-  John Colluzzi wins the 2008 Batting Title, hitting an incredible .629

10/26/08-  The Blue Jays win the first Palisades WBL Championship.  Jay Paraskevas' infamous HR that never happened.  Paraskevas won MVP, Bevelacqua won Cy Young & Montanez won Rookie of the Year.

2009

04/20/09-  The first ever Palisades WBL draft.

04/26/09-  Opening Day 2009, in the first game of the season Indians ace Bobby Destefano and Yankee rookie Joe Gallo each strikeout 13 batters, a League record.  Gallo starts the very next game and strikes out 13 again.

05/17/09-  Yankee Ralph Filosa scores and drives in 10 runs against the Mets, both are League records.

05/31/09-  Yankee Joe Gallo throws a 1-hitter vs. The Blue Jays.

06/07/09-  John Colluzzi hits for the cycle against the Mets, the first in League history.

06/14/09-  Jeff Turitz hits for the cycle against the Yankees.

08/23/09-  The Mets Bobby Daly ends Pete Montanez's consecutive scoreless inning streak at 19, a League record.

08/30/09-  Yankee Chris Schneider is the first player to hit 3 HRs in one game.

09/09/09-  The Palisades WBL online store opened for business.

09/10/09-  Yard Work a documentary that features the Palisades WBL premieres on NESN, the home of the Red Sox.

09/11/09-  Commissioner Brett Bevelacqua is interviewed live on on the Red Sox pre game show at Fenway Park about the film and League.  Yard Work gets a 2.92 Nielsen. 

09/12/09-  Dodger John Colluzzi wins the Triple Crown with an incredible 15 HRs, 82 RBI and a .484 batting average.

10/04/09-  Pete Montanez hits a walk off HR to win game one of the finals over the Indians.  His Blue Jays sweep the Indians 2-0 and take their second championship.  Montanez is named the MVP of the finals.

10/25/09-  Yard Work a documentary that features the Palisades WBL premieres on SNY, the home of the Mets.

11/28/09-  Triple Crown winner John Colluzzi is selected as the 2009 MVP.  With a 0.70 ERA and a 10 and 0 record Pete Montanez is selected as 2009 Cy Young.  Blue Jay Frank Maresca is voted Rookie of the Year, he had 6 wins and 11 HRs.

12/16/09-  Palisades WBL becomes certified by WIFFLE BALL INC. to hold sanctioned events.

2010

02/04/10-  First ever Winter Meetings.

03/09/10-  Royals added as 6th Franchise.

04/25/10-  Opening Day 2010

05/11/10-  Sign major sponsorship deal with Liberty’s American Grill & Sports BarPress release here.

05/23/10- Former Cy Young winners Pete Montanez and Brett Bevelacqua meet up to throw the League’s first 0-0 game, the Reds won on total bases after 6 innings.

06/11/10-  Excursions Journey To Health is named the Official Equipment Supplier of the Palisades WBL.

06/18/10- The Palisades WBL & Fred S. Keller School come to terms on a year to year lease of historic FSK Park, the nation’s premiere fast pitch park.

06/27/10- Blue Jays Pete Montanez sets the single game strike out record at 14 against the Tigers.

07/25/10- Blue Jays Pete Montanez breaks the single season strike out record of 92.

08/08/10- Pirates Dakota Kenny breaks Pete Montanez’s consecutive scoreless inning streak of 18.2 innings.

08/23/09- The Blue Jays Matt Holbook ends Dakota Kenny’s consecutive scoreless inning streak at 25, a League record.

08/29/10- The Tigers Keith Wallenstein sets the single season HR record at 17 with two grand slams against the Royals.  The Royals with a sweep of the Tigers become the first Rookie team in League history to advance to the post season.

09/04/10- The Blue Jays Pete Montanez sets the single season strike out (122), shut out (5) and wins (11) record in a make up game against the Pirates.

09/11/10- The Blue Jays Anthony Lando drives in 11 runs against the Padres Ralph Filosa.  Oddly enough Lando broke Filosa’s previous record of 10.

09/18/10- The Pirates sweep the Reds in the playoffs & become the first #4 seed to advance to the Finals.

09/25/10- The Blue Jays sweep the Pirates to win their third straight Palisades WBL Championship.

11/27/10- The 2010 Awards Ceremony
